Darnell contributed the following information in Mozillazine: He recommends downloading and installing the slighter older Real Player 8 (download: official site, unoffical site) (as opposed to the newer Real Player One.) (More information on RealOne is at the end of this section.) If you have Netscape 4.78 (as Darnell does), Real Player 8 copies the following file into the Netscape 4.78 plugin directory: nppl3260.dll (the Real Player plugin). Important: If you already have Netscape 6, you should find nppl3260.dll in the following directory(and therefore may not need to download and install Real Player 8):
C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\components
If you do not have Netscape 6 already installed, the Real Player installer will not copy the necessary dll file to any location on your computer. Nicola di Nisio contributed the following information in Mozillazine, for getting Real Player to work, when you do not have any version of Netscape also installed: You need to first download this special version of Real Player from Netscape's FTP site. After you unzip and install real player ( Help with installing Real Player 8 for Windows and the Macintosh), it will ask you to restart your computer (unlike other versions of Real Player). It will not have installed the nppl3260.dll file to our mozilla plugins directory, but will have copied the file to a temporary directory named ~rnsetup4. Go to the Start menu, then click on Find | Files and Folders, and then enter nppl3260.dll and click "Find Now". Once you have located where the file has been saved, copy it to your Mozilla plugins directory, as explained below.
To enable the Real Player plugin in Mozilla, you need to copy nppl3260.dll to your Mozilla plugin directory, which on Windows is usually found here:C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\Plugins
There is also another "Application Data" directory for Mozilla on Windows which is usually found here:C:\Documents and Settings\*yourprofilename*\Application Data\Mozilla\Plugins\
If you copy plug-in files to this directory instead (of the Mozilla plugin directory), writes Asa in Mozillazine, Mozilla will retain them, even when you upgrade to a newer Mozilla version. After you have copied the plugin to the Mozilla plugin directory, restart Mozilla, go to the Help menu, and choose "About Plugins". If you see something like the following picture, you've succeeded!

Minimum version required: 6.0 (RealPlayer G2)
Installer detects Mozilla builds: Yes (Version 9.0,
/ RealOne)
Installer detects Netscape 6: Yes
Installer allows selection of plugins directory:
No
Requires 4.x to be present: No
Works with Mozilla 0.9.8: Yes
Version tested: 9.0 (RealOne)
Installation instructions for RealOne:
Go to RealNetworks website http://www.real.com
Run installer. Plugin is automatically installed and
configured by RealOne Installer.
Hendikins contributed some of the following information about getting Java to work in Mozilla, which I updated (Thanks Hendikins!).
Name of Plugin: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) /
Java Plugin
Minimum version required: 1.3.0_01
Installer detects Mozilla builds: No / Unsure
Installer detects Netscape 6: Yes
Installer allows selection of plugins directory:
No
Requires 4.x to be present: No
Works with Mozilla 1.0 RC 1: Yes
Versions tested: 1.3.1, 1.4.0rc
Note: If you have
trouble getting ICQ
Lite (the Java version of ICQ) to work with
Mozilla (it loads but you cannot send messages, or
does not load), and you think you have the Java
plugin installed, you probably need to first remove
the old version of the Java Plugin you have (version
1.3 ?), and then upgrade to the latest (1.4.0)
version.
Installation instructions:
1.Determine if you have the Java Plugin installed by
going to Help | About Plugins. If you do not have an
entry for the Java Plugin there, then either you do
not have the plugin installed, or it is installed,
but not recognised by Mozilla.
2. If no references to Java are found in step 1, and
if you have a version of Netscape 6 which loads Java
applets okay - i.e. is Java-enabled - (or if you
have already installed the Java plugin from
Netscape's website when prompted), proceed to
step 3. If if you don't think you have the Java
plugin installed, doublecheck by going to step
3.
3. Go to Start|Settings| Control Panel | Add /
Remove Programs. Scroll through the list and look
for "Java 2 Runtime
Environment, SE 1.4.0." You should see
something like the following:

Make a note of whether this entry is listed there
or not. Then press "Cancel". Note: If you do see this entry do not
click Add/Remove! If you found this entry, it
means you have the latest version of the Java
Runtime Environment installed (but it is not yet
recognized by Mozilla). If you did not find this
entry(or a similar one), proceed to step 6.
4. Search for NPOJI610.DLL
by going to Start Menu| Find | Files or Folders, and
copy it to Mozilla's plugin directory.
Mozilla's plugin directory is ususally found
here:
C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\Plugins
5. If you could not find the above mentioned file,
search for this similarly named file: NPOJI600.DLL . If you find this
file, it means you have an older version of the Java
Runtime Environment, which should still work with
Mozilla (although much more slowly than the latest
version). Copy this file to Mozilla's plugin
directory (as listed in step 4).
6. If you could not find either of the above
mentioned files, and if you have no Java Plugin
entry in Help| About Plugins, it means you need to
download the Java
Runtime Environment (Java Plugin) 1.4.0
installer from Sun's
website.
7. Dowload the Java
Runtime Environment Plugin (version 1.4.0) from
Sun Microsystems' website. Install the
plugin.
8. Restart Mozilla, and check Help | About Plugins.
If you see an entry for the Java Plugin such as the
following, you have succeeded:

9. If you don't see such an entry, search for
NPOJI610.DLL, and copy it to
Mozilla's plugin directory (as explained in step
4). Restart Mozilla.
Macromedia Flash
Minimum version required: 4.0
Mozilla detects installed plugin:
Yes (Usually)
Installer detects Mozilla builds: No
Installer detects Netscape 6: No
Installer allows selection of plugins directory:
Yes
Requires 4.x to be present: No
Works with Mozilla 1.0 RC1: Yes
Version tested: 5.0
Plugin (DLL) name: NPSWF32.dll
Note: Mozilla 1.0 RC1
automatically detected the Flash plugin (NPSWF32.dll) which was installed
to my Opera 6 directory and "imported" it.
First check Help | About
plugins to see if you have the Flash plugin
installed. If not, then proceed with the following
instructions.
Installation instructions:
1. Download the installer
2. Manually select (or confirm) Mozilla's
plugins directory. It is usually:
C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\Plugins
3. Ignore the error message about NETSCAPE.EXE not
being found.
4. Test the plugin by looking for a Flash plugin
entry under Help|About
Plugins or by going to Macromedia's
website.

If you are looking to move/backup your email files from Outlook Express (or another program), Mailbag Assistant can help you too. It can read the following formats: Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape 4, Netscape 6 (Mozilla), Pegasus, The Bat!, Forte Agent, Calypso, Poco, FoxMail, and EML message files.
Note: On Windows, your Mozilla eMail files are
usually found here:
C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Mozilla\Profiles\*your profile
name*\*something*.slt\Mail
Minimum version required: 4.0
Installer detects Mozilla builds: Yes
Installer detects Netscape 6: Yes
Installer allows selection of plugins directory:

Steps required to get Adobe Acrobat working:
1) Go to Help | About Plugins and verify that no
plugin for Adobe Acrobat is already installed. (If
you don't see any entry for Adobe Acrobat here,
then it is not being recognised by Mozilla.)
2) If you have previously downloaded or installed
Adobe Acrobat Reader, proceed to step 5, otherwise
Download Adobe Acrobat Reader
3) Install Adobe Acrobat Reader
4) Restart (your computer and) Mozilla and
check Help | About
Plugins or visit a site with a PDF (Acrobat)
document.
5) If Adobe Acrobat is still not detected (it is
unclear if Adobe Acrobat Reader always detects
Mozilla), go to the Start menu, choose Find | Files
or Folders and enter nppdf32.dll . Once you have
located this file, copy it to Mozilla's plugin
directory, which is usually found here:
C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\Plugins
There is also another "Application Data" directory for Mozilla on Windows which is usually found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\*yourprofilename*\Application Data\Mozilla\Plugins\
If you copy plug-in files to this directory instead (of the Mozilla plugin directory), writes Asa in Mozillazine, Mozilla will retain them, even when you upgrade to a newer Mozilla version.
6)Restart Mozilla, Restart (your computer and)
Mozilla and check Help | About
Plugins or visit a site with a PDF (Acrobat)
document.
