Tricks: Make Mozilla work better.

Changing Mozilla's splash (start-up) screen:

April 14, 2002. New Splash Screens !

Don't like Mozilla's default start-up screen? (The splash or start-up screen is the image shown when Mozilla first starts up.) Neither do I! Thankfully, you can change Mozilla's start-up screen to anything you like, such as these logos which MozTips created.

In order to install a new splash screen, you need to save an image called "mozilla.bmp" to the same directory in which you have mozilla.exe. To install the splash screens provided here, first save the zipped files listed below to your desktop, then open the zipped file of your choice and extract mozilla.bmp to your Mozilla directory, usually found in the following directory on Windows computers:

C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\

Links to the (unzipped)BMP splash screens are also provided below. If you are unconfortable with zipped files, then just save the BMP files listed below to the directory mentioned above. (If you are familiar with zipped files, please download them instead of the BMP files to save MozTips' data transfer limit, since they are compressed (smaller) files. Thanks!) You will see your splash screen the next time you start Mozilla.

Did you know? You can create your own start-up logo for Mozilla with your favorite graphics program- the important thing is to call it mozilla.bmp and to save it in the same directory as mozilla.exe.
